AJ Styles *ahem* “Pipe Bomb” from TNA Impact
TNA: Another day, another AJ letting loose with a shoot promo. Here’s AJ Styles‘ speech from last night’s edition of Impact Wrestling. And while I usually put the words pipe bomb in quotes to distinguish it as a wrestling term, I’m using the quotation marks here to signify that, well, this was no “pipe bomb.”
So the gist here is that Styles is disgruntled. We get that. As we assume many in the TNA locker room aren’t happy with the status quo. But here’s the problem with the speech. It was too safe. He called out Dixie, but instead of calling out Hogan and Bischoff by name, he just mentioned the “new direction.” He was too vague. Not enough specifics. He didn’t mention the layoffs. Also, he started of by saying that he resented being the workhouse and then ended the whole thing by saying he loved being the workhouse.
On top of all this, he didn’t even (or wasn’t allowed to) call out the Claire Lynch storyline as being repugnant bulls***. He had to say that he was betrayed by the production staff for airing his dirty laundry. So breaking kayfabe this was not. This wasn’t a bombshell, it was more of an angle to show that Styles is “fed up” with “stuff.”
