Is JBL the One Behind the @CrankyVince Twitter Account?

After what looked to be a Twitter slip up last night, many are now pointing the finger at WWE Commentator JBL as being the man behind the famed Vince McMahon parody account.

Now keep in mind that this would’t be the first time someone accused John Bradshaw Layfield of being the brains behind @CrankyVince – the Twitter (reportedly scarily accurate) parody account of Vince McMahon – which the WWE even once had shut down because it had become obvious that it was run by someone with inside backstage knowledge of where Vince was at very specific times.

And last night during RAW, these two tweets happened…

Screen Shot 2014-03-18 at 8 As someone who’s run silly side accounts on Twitter, I can tell you first hand that I’ve made this mistake too. It’s especially easy if you run something like Tweetdeck on your desktop and you have both accounts highlighted by accident when you send out the message. The @CrankyVince tweet was deleted immediately, but that can only do so much. Someone will always see it.

Working in JBL’s favor is the fact that the two tweets were sent by two different devices, and the time difference suggests that the Vince tweet was sent from Pacific Time while JBL was Central, from the RAW in San Antonio. JBL defended himself against claims that he ran the account…

We don’t know anything for certain, naturally. It’s still speculation. I can only speak as someone who’s made this exact same mistake.
